The large sportsmen are the stars of our time. As long as they beat records, take down medals or mark goals. But afterwards, which knows that much of them is physically damaged by the intensive practice of their discipline.

The sport has several positive effects, as well on the organization as on the mental one, because it is a factor of harmony in the management of its own body, from many points of view. By improving the muscular performances and the coordination of the gestures, the sport contributes to the construction of a better image of oneself. It makes it possible to become aware of its capacities and its limits. It has an effect releasing well known, and takes part in the regulation of the great functions of the organization: the sportsman sleeps better, feeds correctly and is often obliged, if he wants to remain on a good level, to eliminate at least partially of bad habits like the nicotinism and alcoholism. Practised way moderate but continues, throughout the life, it has a remarkable effect on the cardiovascular and respiratory system. The sporting heart is slower, more extremely, and presents less cardiac risk of insufficiency. However, after the forty years age, it is essential to control, by electrocardiograms of effort, that the heart is indeed in good condition.

Sportsmen, who they are amateur or professional, underwent with, a given moment, a prolonged tiredness not allowing the correct operation of a drive and/or a competition.
This tiredness can, if the sportsmen continue to involve themselves, undertake a situation which worsens in the course of time. This situation is named in the sporting world: overtraining.
It is the object of an accumulation of tiredness being able to be recovered by the organization during a rather long rest period. More and more of high level sportsmen are tired and wounded (muscles, articulations, tendinitises, lack of success).

The doctors were brought to study these cases and they described a situation of bad physical and mental state.

State general: Weakness, Paleness, Lassitude, Sweats, Small losses of consciousness (lipothymies).
